Minerva reported Ulysses as suffering in Calypso’s house.
“And now, as Dawn rose from her couch beside Tithonus—harbinger of light alike to mortals and immortals—the gods met in council and with them, Jove the lord of thunder, who is their king. Thereon Minerva began to tell them of the many sufferings of Ulysses, for she pitied him away there in the house of the nymph Calypso.”
Dawn rises from her couch beside Tithonus as the harbinger of light to mortals and immortals.
“as Dawn rose from her couch beside Tithonus—harbinger of light alike to mortals and immortals”
Jove is the lord of thunder and king of the gods.
“with them, Jove the lord of thunder, who is their king”
Minerva tells the gods of Ulysses’s sufferings because she pities him.
“Minerva began to tell them of the many sufferings of Ulysses, for she pitied him”
The gods meet in council.
“the gods met in council and with them”
Tithonus shares Dawn’s couch.
“as Dawn rose from her couch beside Tithonus”
Ulysses suffers far away in the house of Calypso.
“many sufferings of Ulysses, for she pitied him away there in the house of the nymph Calypso”
At dawn the gods, including their king Jove, meet in council, where Minerva pities Ulysses in Calypso’s house and begins recounting his sufferings.
